Children gleefully waddle behind Donald Duck into the area and then check out the beloved faux-safari Jungle Cruise ride. "Follow the Leader" from Peter Pan accompanies our introduction to Adventureland. First, the eight previously-seen personalities are joined by Alice and the White Rabbit, Mary Poppins, Bert, and their assorted penguin friends for "I'm Walking Right Down the Middle of Main Street U.S.A.", a catchy, laid-back ode to the turn-of-the-20th-century section of the park that Disneyland visitors first pass through. Having ushered the happy crowds into the park, we now begin exploring the various parts of Disneyland. These aren't as refined or animated as today's ones are (each song features a different basic font), but they serve the purpose and when they are absent, you are assumed to have caught on to the song. Most of the lyrics from these two and subsequent songs appear on screen enabling you to perform the series' essential duty (singing along) with a little bit of effort. The park then opens, and the masses enthusiastically arrive (without bag checks or long lines) to "Step in Time" from Mary Poppins. While engaging in their duties, they appropriately sing "Whistle While You Work" from Disney's first animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Then, the Disneyland Fun unique to this DVD kicks into high gear.ĭisneyland is about to open, and Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, Goofy, Chip, Dale, and Roger Rabbit are making sure everything is clean, ready, and just right for the guests' arrival. After they appear to perform the Sing Along Songs Theme, Professor Owl appears to briefly introduce the volume in the same fashion (recycled animation with new matching dialogue). This volume starts with the old Sing Along Songs opening, which features animation of Professor Owl and his music class from the 1953 short Toot, Whistle, Plunk, and Boom. As a result, it offers nostalgia quite different than that which the golden anniversary has mostly provided, since it harks back only fifteen years rather than to the Anaheim park's 1955 launch.įor Disneyland Fun, as much as any of the studio's DVDs, we must hop in our time machines and return to 1990, when Disneyland celebrated its 35th anniversary, The Little Mermaid was classified as a hit rather than the start of a Renaissance, and the zany title character of Touchstone's 1988 blockbuster Who Framed Roger Rabbit apparently assumed a theme park presence as large as icons like Pluto and Goofy. The feature itself has not been updated in any way whatsoever from its first incarnation. While all four titles were initially released to VHS last decade, Disneyland Fun is also the oldest, having debuted on home video in the summer of 1990. Disneyland Fun is the only volume set at the originating park, the one which Walt Disney lived to see realized. A few things distinguish this disc from the rest of the batch. Sing Along Songs: Disneyland Fun - It's a Small World is one of four new Disney DVDs being issued this September to mark the 50th Anniversary of Disney theme parks.

You might not think stacking plates and organizing books is compelling, but strangely, it really is. Though the mechanics are simple and the campaign can be completed in a handful of hours, Unpacking is a memorable, delightful game that shows that there are still new ways to tell stories in video games out there. Unpacking takes you through a series of homes representing an invisible protagonist’s life from 1997 to 2018, and as it turns out, you can tell a lot about a person by the things they take with them. In Unpacking, described by its creators as a “zen puzzle game,” settling into a new place is surprisingly comforting. Because of this, he has fallen even further out of the public's favor, making it tougher and tougher for most to revisit his seminal creation. In real life, moving is the worst. It was during this period that much of the abuse occurred. Byrd, who was 13 when she first communicated with Kricfalusi directly, desperately wanted a career in animation and eventually moved to Los Angeles to live with her idol. The young women, Robyn Byrd and Katie Rice, were aspiring animators who idolized Kricfalusi. And as Buzzfeed reported in 2018, he had multiple sexually abusive relationships with underage girls over the course of his career. Happy Happy Joy Joy reveals that in the decades following the death of The Ren and Stimpy Show, people had plenty of stories about the verbal and psychological abuse they endured while working with Kricfalusi. Kricfalusi’s abuse extended both within and far beyond the Spumco offices. Camp and company stopped producing episodes in 1995. Bob Camp took over the show after its creator left, but The Ren and Stimpy Show never truly recovered. The ultimate price, though, was the morale of the studio's biggest trailblazers, missed deadlines, and Kricfalusi's eventual firing. For Kricfalusi himself, the immediate cost was often re-drawing characters and scenes a hundred times before arriving at a quality product. This was never a formal thing, but it was absolutely something Kricfalusi expected from his team. The folks at Spumco were bold, ambitious, creatively unfettered animators who all fell in line under their leader's unspoken edict: quality at any cost. There was no question that the guy had passion. The animators clearly reveled in that particular reveal, even introducing him as a feminine silhouette before shattering the illusion altogether. There's something grotesque and hysterical about putting a big-nosed man in white garb, hanging him on a pair of feeble, fluttering wings, and calling him the Nerve-Ending Fairy. It forced fans into an imagination that was singularly deranged, darkly funny, and unapologetically disgusting. Kricfalusi and his team pulled audiences into the characters' experiences and refused to loosen their stranglehold on their imaginations. In “Space Madness,” you taste the bar of soap as a crazed Ren gobbles it up, convinced that Stimpy is after his “Ice Creeeem” bar. And the series is full of similar moments. Thanks to some vivid close-ups, you feel a cartoon character's rotting tooth. When Ren learns the putrid perils of his unbrushed chompers in “Ren's Toothache,” you smell the stench coming from his mouth. One of the show's defining elements was its texture. There was an old software, Comic Life, for the Mac. Doing anything complex quickly is a chore. But holy crap, that balloon tool is lacking. And it does incorporate a lot of features necessary for illustration and comic production, and even animation. And the ability to customize the UI and save workspaces and have the custom tools palette is killer. Honestly, Clip is hanging on by a thread for me. I actually prefer Fresco for drawing in general, but it's basically like Adobe's attempt at making a CSP competitor since neither photoshop nor illustrator are able to merge to give the functionality clip has. I genuinely like finding and experimenting with new art programs, but I keep returning to CSP as my comfort zone. I would 100% recommend Rebelle over Corel if you want traditional media simulation and a modern, streamlined program. I got Rebelle 5 for $10 for their 10th anniversary sale and I love it, but CSP has more utility.Ĭorel Painter is too damned expensive for the value unless you get it on a Humble Bundle or something, and it’s kinda archaic imo. I have not really used Paintstorm Studio so no real opinion there. Affinity’s V2 is pretty buggy right now so I’m wary to recommend but I am generally a fan of Serif. I would not do art in Affinity Photo, though it’s fine for editing - Affinity’s brush engine sucks imo, though I do love Designer for vector work. Yes, they’ve made some weird choices over the years but it’s the program I’m most accustomed to and suits a variety of art styles/project types. Or if you want a very robust painting software with a fluid simulator because you want a more real life feeling like Peter Polach ? Corel Painter it's better.ĬSP is my reliable, fun art program and I’ve been evangelizing it since it launched. You prefer a photobashing style like Nekro? Affinity Series it's probably the best option as for now I swear I remove the tool palette from my workspace 4 years ago and I don't miss itīut CSP it's an illustration software, meaning that there are things that don't do so well. Invoice financing is a relatively new financing option. Advantages and disadvantages of invoice financing For example, if you sell $100,000 worth of invoices at a 4% discount, you’d likely receive $80,000 up front and the remainder, minus the discount, when the invoice is paid to the factoring company. To cover the costs and risks of taking on these debts, the financier or factoring company typically buys the invoices at a discounted rate. But for many businesses, this might not be the most desirable approach - it may seem a bit off-putting or confusing to some customers, and while it takes responsibility for collecting the payments off your plate, it also means you have no control over the interactions between the financier and your customers. That means when it’s time to pay, your clients will be paying the financier, not your business.įor some, that’s not a big deal. The first is that invoice factoring involves selling your invoices to a third-party financier, rather than simply taking out a loan based on the amount. But invoice factoring differs from invoice financing in a significant way. With factoring, a lender gives you the money upfront in one lump sum. Invoice factoring is similar to invoice financing from your business’s perspective - in fact, it’s usually considered a subtype of invoice financing. The big advantage of invoice financing is that it enables your business to retain responsibility for collecting payments - in other words, the customer doesn’t know you’ve taken out the loan, and they still make their payments to you, rather than the lender. These loans tend to be for approximately 80% of the total of the invoices, with some variability based on the specific lender you go with. Invoice financing aims to solve this cashflow problem by making the majority of these funds available immediately through loans. Even if you know your clients well and can narrow down exactly when they’ll pay their invoices, you still have to wait for the funds to become available. In practical terms, that means that you may only have a vague idea of when exactly you can expect that money to hit your accounts. Your business can then make use of that capital without needing to wait for sometimes-lengthy payment terms.įor example, let’s say your business has $80,000 in outstanding invoices, with payment terms ranging from 30 days to 120 days. Invoice financing for small businesses, as mentioned above, is essentially the process of taking out a loan for a percentage of the amount of an outstanding invoice. Invoice financing and invoice factoring are two similar-sounding services with some subtle (but important) differences. Your business will also need to pay service fees and/or interest to the lender, which is how they make their money. The exact terms of the financing agreement vary from lender to lender, but generally, the loan will be for around 80% of the invoice total. This can help smooth out the bumps that can come from having multiple invoices outstanding with different clients that all have different payment terms. You get the money upfront and repay the loan when the invoice is paid by your client. You haven’t received the money yet, so unless you have substantial working capital on hand, you may find it difficult to pay for operating expenses.Īlternatively, you can take out a small loan against the balance of that invoice - that’s invoice financing. That invoice has a 30-day payment term.įor the next 30 days, while you wait for the client to pay the invoice, you’re effectively operating out of pocket. Let’s say you provide your world-class service to a client and then send them an invoice for payment. Invoice financing is a fairly simple process. It’s similar to, but not quite the same as, invoice factoring (another form of invoice funding, but we’ll have more on that later). Invoice financing is sometimes called invoice discounting, accounts receivable financing or receivables financing. Instead of waiting for the customer to pay, the business borrows the invoice amount from a lender and repays it when the invoice is paid, usually along with some interest. It’s a way for businesses to enable more consistent cashflow when customers have different payment terms or are late to pay. Invoice financing means borrowing money against the outstanding balance on an invoice as owed by your customers. That makes it a convenient option for many but will it work for you? Read on to find out if business invoice financing is right for your small business. This form of finance essentially provides an advance on outstanding invoices, which you can repay when the invoice is paid by your customer. But even if your sales are excellent, cashflow might be anything but steady.ĭifferences in contracts and payment terms can mean invoices are paid at odd intervals that leave gaps in your revenue. Steady, stable cashflow is vital for small business success. You no longer need to manually enroll every managed device.
Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars Genre There’s a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it does feel in many ways like what most fans of fighting games love about the genre, a battle of wits. The game has 10 players, 20 with the expansion, who have their own abilities, combos, and playstyles. It’s super fun, honestly, and one of the best Steam games for Mac. You even get to repeat cards in a way to condition your opponent to wrongly predict what comes next. It is meant to capture the idea of acting on what you think the enemy is going to do next. Yomi’s gameplay uses simultaneous turns with a system that works a lot like rock-paper-scissors. In fact, the game’s name, Yomi, is a Japanese word that means “knowing your adversary’s mind.” So you choose a character, practice combos, and you must read your opponent to increase your chances of winning. Sirlin Games define Yomi as a fighting game in card form. But it’s innovative because it’s meant to simulate how fighting games work in many ways. It is traditional in the sense that it is a deck-building PvP card game in which you use your deck to fight someone else’s deck in a turn-based fashion. Yomi is a fantastic card game that is both traditional and innovative. So if you’re a fan of cards or are just looking for something fun to do with your friends, I recommend you take it for a spin. The fun you get from games like this can be endless because the combination of cards is nearly infinite. You will constantly challenge your knowledge and strategic thinking by putting your deck to the test by dueling against other players in Multiplayer Mode. Assemble a deck with your cards and your own tactical planning. This is pretty much a traditional card game. Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is the newest game of the franchise, and it is free to play.
